  • Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, has integrated Lightning Network into his corporate email address, allowing for Bitcoin transactions to be sent in the form of Satoshis or “Sats”.
  • The Lightning Network is a popular layer 2 scaling solution for Bitcoin that can process up to 1 million transactions per second (TPS) for a base fee of just 1 Satoshi, making it a powerful tool for businesses looking to transact with Bitcoin quickly and efficiently.
  • MicroStrategy has invested heavily in Bitcoin, with the aim of strengthening its balance sheet. Since March 2021, the company has invested $4.17 billion to acquire 140,000 BTC, with an average purchase price of $29,800.

Michael Saylor, a well-known Bitcoin advocate and co-founder of MicroStrategy, has integrated Lightning Network into his corporate email address in a move that demonstrates his commitment to Bitcoin and its underlying technology. MicroStrategy is a business intelligence software company that has been investing heavily in Bitcoin in recent years, with the aim of strengthening its balance sheet.

Saylor took to Twitter to share a screenshot of several Bitcoin transactions sent to his corporate email address, “saylor@microstrategy.com”. The transactions were sent in the form of Satoshis or “Sats”, the smallest unit of Bitcoin. The Lightning Address protocol enabled this integration, allowing users to link their email addresses as their “Internet Identifier” rather than having to copy wallet addresses or use QR codes.

It is not clear whether this feature has been integrated into all corporate emails at MicroStrategy. However, this move underscores Saylor’s commitment to Bitcoin and his desire to make it easier for MicroStrategy employees to transact using the cryptocurrency.

The Lightning Network is a popular layer 2 scaling solution for Bitcoin that can process up to 1 million transactions per second (TPS) for a base fee of just 1 Satoshi, or around four cents. This makes it a powerful tool for businesses looking to transact with Bitcoin quickly and efficiently.

Saylor has been the driving force behind MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin investment strategy, which has seen the company invest $4.17 billion to acquire 140,000 BTC since March 2021. The average purchase price of these coins was $29,800, according to data from Buy Bitcoin Worldwide. Despite the current price of Bitcoin being at $29,400, the company is only down by 1.3% on its total investment.

Last week, MicroStrategy briefly saw a profit when Bitcoin surpassed the $30,000 mark. This demonstrates the potential of Bitcoin as an investment vehicle, and Saylor’s commitment to the cryptocurrency and its future growth.

In conclusion, Michael Saylor’s integration of Lightning Network into his corporate email address is a significant move that highlights his commitment to Bitcoin and its underlying technology. As a business intelligence software company, MicroStrategy’s investment in Bitcoin is part of its broader strategy to strengthen its balance sheet. With the Lightning Network, MicroStrategy can transact with Bitcoin quickly and efficiently, further cementing its position as a leader in the cryptocurrency space.
